About
Based out of Kansas City, MO, I am a Certified Natural Health Professional through Trinity School of Natural Health, and double board-certified as a Functional Wellness Professional through the American Association of Natural Wellness Practitioners and a Holistic Health Practitioner through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I am dedicated to teaching and empowering individuals to manage their own health holistically.
Prior to my work in the functional/natural wellness industry, I danced professionally as a ballet, modern, and contemporary dancer for nearly 20 years. I have trained and worked with The Kansas City Ballet and continued my dance education with The University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance. I also taught and coached many of the next generation of young dancers.
My interest in health and wellness was initially sparked by watching my father, Dr. Craig Ostrander, DO MBA. He started on his journey of becoming a physician when I was old enough to understand the weight and magnitude of the decision he was making to start medical school. As I got older, the respect I had for the sacred oath he took to do no harm grew and grew, especially as I began working in his private family practice clinic, Summit Family Care.
It was in working with my dad at his clinic that I began to truly understand the opioid crisis we are facing as a society. Seeing this problem firsthand in my day-to-day patient interactions motivated me to want to do something about it. I wanted to find natural alternatives and solutions to pain, depression, anxiety, etc. In my research, I found naturopathy and made the decision to continue my education with Trinity.
Upon graduation, I decided to specialize in addressing lifestyle items with my clients. I believe that most health issues can be resolved by making adjustments to diet, sleep, exercise, and other elements of our everyday lives, typically the seemingly mundane things we don't think about. I am also a firm believer in the use of apitherapy, which is the medicinal and/or therapeutic use of all that the honeybee has to offer. Additionally, I frequently recommend aromatherapy, specifically essential oils, to manage mental and emotional health.
Because my introduction to working in health and wellness came from working in my dad's traditional primary care/family medicine clinic, I am a strong proponent of collaborating closely with physicians and specialists. Having strong roots in traditional healthcare gave me a firm, science-based foundation to build my career in functional health upon, and for that I will be forever grateful. It also gave me the trusted connections and partners I needed to refer my clients to when appropriate or consult directly with to provide my clients with the highest quality, well-rounded care.
It is an honor and a privilege to serve my clients. I am here to help guide them on their journey to optimal health. I always say: I am not a healer, my clients are the healers of their own bodies. My clients' bodies are capable of healing themselves, my clients just need the knowledge and the tools to help prompt and promote their bodies to access full healing.
